The Art of Yogic Breathing ($40 + HST) with Pritpal
Prana (or ki” or “chi”) refers to a basic, universal, all-pervading life-force Energy long recognized by Eastern thought, which is now being more fully appreciated and studied by Western science. Over the centuries yoga practitioners have found that by practicing Pranayama, or Yogic Breathing, we can access link to this energy, and harness and utilize its power. Yogic Breathing is thus a wonderful key to good health and longevity, and it is also a superb lead-in to meditation.
In scientific terms, a controlled breathing practice dances with our nervous system, cuts into stress hormones, and regulates the oxygen, CO2, and pH levels in our blood. This workshop provides you with practical and step-by-step explanations about the practice of basic Yogic Breathing techniques including the major Pranayama: Kapalabhati, Nadi Shodana, Ujjayi, and other useful practices.
Beginners will get a solid introduction. Intermediates will get concrete, helpful hints that will greatly improve their practice. No yoga experience necessary. Note: you can sit on a chair, yoga cushion or the floor for the practice portions of the workshop.
