Experience You Can Trust
Program Curriculum
An understanding of the structure of the body and how postures create change within that structure is key to safe instruction. Practical applied anatomy, observing types of body – organic or muscular – is a component of the anatomy training. Compressive and tensile forces and variations in skeletal structure are explored as well as muscle groups, the subtle body, and it’s energies. Students are provided with an excellent text to support their studies in Anatomy.
The best yoga teachers consistently practice yoga to develop their physical, mental, and emotional strength. This emphasis on a synergistic connection between the body and mind allows teachers gain the wisdom necessary to teach from their hearts.
The best way to teach yoga is by having your own practice. A personal practice will allow you fully develop your wisdom and skill as a teacher who teaches the mind-body connection of yoga. By utilizing the principles of modern holistic biomechanics, teachers-in-training will use the most elegant and user-friendly methods of teaching available. Rather than practicing a specific sequence of postures every day, your practice will include creative sequencing techniques. The introduction to meditation and Pranayama (breath expansion) techniques are components of our daily practice. By the end of the program, teachers-in-training will have the skills necessary to build a well-rounded personal yoga practice.
The central focus of this 200-hour yoga teacher training program is on how to lead a safe, effective, and joyful yoga class. The methodology plays an integral role in leading a successful and interesting yoga class. Teachers-in-training will learn to listen to their own voice and become aware of their patterns of language, and be encouraged to examine and refine the clarity of their communication. Teachers will begin to explore their tone of voice to teach different types of classes, such as the difference between the chakra vs asana voice. The use of language will be observed and the use of simple language will be encouraged to refine teaching techniques. Teachers-in-training will learn detailed ways of staying present while practicing asanas, encouraging relaxation or tension where appropriate, and integrating a breathing to guide asana practice. Skills and knowledge on how to cue will be explored in order to align the body safely and comfortably to encourage a deeper release while keeping the breath connection going. General principles in giving physical adjustments will be taught under guidance.
Philosophy
Yoga’s philosophy goal is to seek the answer the question, “Who are we?” All of yoga’s philosophy can be woven into teaching its physical practice, which enriches the students’ experience. The origin of yoga and its philosophy are fascinating subjects. Via lectures and discussions, a good foundation of knowledge and understanding of yoga is developed. The key texts of yoga will be explored, such as The Upanishads, The Bhagavad Gita, and The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
Ethics and Lifestyle
What is ethical behaviour? How does a lifestyle aligned with our highest good positively affect our ability to teach? Understanding the yoga guidelines and adapting the yogic texts to the modern world will be a starting point for a discussion of ethics. Teachers-in-training will learn to apply these ideas to practical situations and embody a holistic understanding of ethics in yoga.
Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga. The theory may appear complex, with lots of Sanskrit terminology, however, its principles are beautifully simple and are as relevant as ever in the 21st Century. We will be exploring our ‘dosha’ or Ayurvedic mind body type; better understand ourselves, our partners and others; how and why life in the 21st century has the potential to unbalance all 3 doshas; learn daily Ayurvedic routines- why it makes sense to do a bit more than brush your teeth; why massage is considered so essential in Ayurveda and how to give yourself a daily massage; you are what you eat, balancing the 6 tastes, and the effects of food on the mind; learn useful Ayurvedic herbs and spices and how to use these to improve the agni (digestive fire).
This section covers the role of a yoga teacher, getting yourself established as a professional yoga teacher, and then being successful in teaching yoga as your source of livelihood.

What Our Yoga Teacher Training Graduates Say
The 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program at Mind to Body was one of the best experiences of my life. This program gave more than I could have imagined possible, by offering weekend training flexibility, special guests, interactive workshops and exciting outings. The atmosphere of the studio is peaceful and inviting making for a comfortable, enjoyable and safe space to learn.
Our teacher Pritpal Singh is a kind compassionate soul who held a disciplined focus to get through all the material. She showed a true love for yoga and offers her students a long term commitment of continued support. I am truly grateful to have had her as a teacher and look up to her as my mentor. Tony Murdoch, our spiritual guide took us through some important yoga philosophy that is often over looked in the West. He has a true passion for meditation and yoga philosophy. With his genuine interest in his field of study, and his charismatic demeanour, it made learning about the roots of yoga fun and intriguing. The quality of training was exceptional and the encouragement and support we received from our trainers was most respected.
A big break through for me, was in my ability to stop comparing myself to my classmates, all experienced yoga students who had years of a strong and consistent practice. Whenever feelings of fear or anxiety would arise, I would kindly remind myself that I was on my own unique yoga journey and would then only compare myself to my last attempt. Learning to accept and appreciate where I was in my life has allowed me to become more focused. This focus has given me mental clarity and confidence to apply the skills I have learned towards building a well-rounded yoga practice that I can share with others.
I consider the YTT program to have been a huge investment as it has taught me so many valuable things that I’ve happily adopted into my day to day life. I am thankful to have met all the amazing teachers and fellow students along the way. If you are looking to empower yourself and better your life, I highly recommend the YTT program at Mind to Body. It was a truly amazing and life changing experience.
- Sabrina
I had been practicing yoga for about 3 years before I decided to enroll in Yoga Teacher Training program, with the sole intention of improving my yoga poses and continuing to build up my strength and flexibility. What I have taken away from the YTT program is so much more than physical resilience; I have learned a new way of living life – the yogic way of life. I have learned to incorporate yoga into my life and am now a firm believer that balance is in fact the key to health, wealth and happiness. I balance working hard with playing hard, dancing all night long with meditating and practicing yoga the next day, and travelling the world for new adventures with finding adventures in the little things in life. Furthermore, I have learned that the key to my happiness is giving 120% of my effort in everything that I do, without attaching myself to the end results.
My balanced and positive approach to life has no doubt opened up new doors of opportunities in my own personal and professional lives. I cannot be more grateful and am truly humbled to have had the privilege of being one of the first students to complete the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Mind to Body Yoga.
The studio was our home over the 4-month period, and it will always feel like home to me. Both Pritpal and Tony were amazing teachers who brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program - we explored a wide range of topic from Sanskrit and the philosophy of yoga, to anatomy and Ayurveda, to meditation and Yoga Nidra. It was exciting to feel my body getting stronger each day and to notice myself becoming more aware of my spiritual Self.
I had such a wonderful, eye-opening experience over the course of the program and I would recommend this training to anyone who is looking to not only deepen their yoga practice, but also change their life for the better.
- Yuki

This course is created for individuals with aspirations of becoming yoga teachers but is appropriate for any individual wishing to further expand their yoga practice. Throughout the course you will learn Yoga Alliance-approved curriculum. The best spiritual teachers will share their experience to transform and enrich your life and your onwards teaching. Leave the program with the knowledge, experience and confidence to step in-front of a classroom and share your newfound gifts with the world.
It’s been a while since I have done yoga but my initial days as yogi were comfortable and after graduating from YTT Program, I felt a lot of improvement. I heard one day you miss a yoga class is a day you do not feel complete. It is important to say it became the highlight of my day and after YTT, it has become an important part of my life. The teachers are experts and have an amazing and hearted way to guide you through the class. Some of them became my close friends! All I can say is thank you, all you have taught me has help me through hard moments in my life. All my blessings, always.
